The Renewable and Sustainable Energy Lab at the Technical University of Crete (ReSEL@TUC) proudly announces  the third module of the workshop series on Material Sustainability and Cultural Heritage patents, held within the frame of the HI-EURECA-PRO project. This module titled “Intellectual Property Protection for Material Sustainability and Heritage”,  will take place on March 30th, 2026, and will address the legal, institutional, and strategic dimensions of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for sustainable materials and cultural heritage–related innovations.

🎯 Objectives

The Renewable and Sustainable Energy Lab at the Technical University of Crete (ReSEL@TUC) proudly announces  the third module of the workshop series on Material Sustainability and Cultural Heritage patents, held within the frame of the HI-EURECA-PRO project. This module titled “Intellectual Property Protection for Material Sustainability and Heritage”,  will take place on March 30th, 2026, and will address the legal, institutional, and strategic dimensions of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for sustainable materials and cultural heritage–related innovations.

This workshop aims to equip participants with a clear understanding of Intellectual Property Rights as they relate to sustainable materials, technologies, and applied research in cultural heritage.

The workshop will introduce the European Patent Convention (EPC) framework and explore how IPR contributes to protecting innovative scientific methods and materials used in conservation. It will also examine key international IPR frameworks, including WIPO, PCT, and TRIPS, essential for global innovation strategies.

Moreover, the workshop will address the challenges and opportunities in safeguarding sustainability-oriented research outputs and highlight the critical role of technology transfer mechanisms in bridging academic knowledge with industry, heritage institutions, and real-world applications.
