The HI-EURECA-PRO team is pleased to announce the launch of the 1st International Workshop on Digital and Sustainable Practices for Cultural Heritage, organised by the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab (ReSEL@TUC) and the Digital Signal and Image Processing (DISPLAY), at the Technical University of Crete.
This workshop forms part of a two-cycle webinar programme, with each cycle consisting of 20 hours of training combining lectures and hands-on practice sessions. The first cycle will take place from 15 December 2025 to 16 January 2026, offering a structured two-week programme of focused sessions designed to equip participants with the latest knowledge and practical skills at the intersection of digital innovation and sustainability in cultural heritage.
🎯 Workshop Objectives
The workshop aims to:
- Enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in digital documentation, 3D technologies, and open data management for cultural heritage.
- Strengthen interdisciplinary and international cooperation between researchers, conservators, and digital experts.
- Promote sustainable, data-driven approaches to the preservation, interpretation, and management of cultural heritage.
- Support capacity-building aligned with European green and digital priorities.
Participating in this workshop series offers a unique opportunity to gain cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in digital documentation and analysis of cultural heritage assets. It will enhance your understanding of sustainable and ethical data management practices, support the creation of open educational materials for continued training, and strengthen international collaboration through the exchange of best practices. Ultimately, the series contributes to the broader European digital and green transition within the heritage sector.
Whether you’re a researcher, technology transfer officer, policymaker, or heritage professional, this workshop will empower you to contribute to a greener, more resilient future for cultural heritage. Certificates of attendance will be provided at the conclusion of both training cycles (Cycle 1: Dec 2025–Jan 2026 and Cycle 2: Feb 2026) to the participants.

2nd Cycle Pre-announcement
The 2nd International Workshop on Digital and Sustainable Practices for Cultural Heritage is planned for February 2026. This workshop aims to:
- Present successful case studies of the tools presented during the 1st workshop
- Build understanding of AI-based knowledge systems and institutional chatbots
- Human-centered & immersive digital experiences for sustainable culture
- Strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between heritage professionals and technologists
- Support institutional strategies for digital transformation and knowledge management
It will be organised by the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab (ReSEL@TUC), the Digital Signal and Image Processing (DISPLAY), and the Transformable Intelligent Environments Laboratory (TIE Lab) of the Technical University of Crete.
