Deliverable D14.1 - Science Communication Toolkit

Summary of Deliverable D14.1 – Science Communication Toolkit

The HI-EURECA-PRO Science Communication Toolkit provides a practical framework for strengthening science communication in the fields of heritage and innovation. Developed within Work Package 14 on Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, the toolkit responds to the diverse needs of partner universities across Widening and non-Widening countries. It is grounded in survey findings from Poland, Greece, and Romania, where higher education institutions face unique socio-economic and cultural transformations linked to industrial and mining heritage.

The toolkit promotes participatory and dialogue-oriented approaches, moving beyond one-way communication to foster engagement, trust, and co-creation of knowledge between researchers, citizens, stakeholders, and policymakers. It is structured around three stages—preparation, implementation, and evaluation—offering guidance on how to define objectives, tailor formats to different audiences, integrate interactive methods, and assess impact. Tested formats such as lecture series, discussions, World Cafés, and exhibitions are complemented with innovative tools, including multimedia resources and citizen science approaches.

By equipping universities, researchers, and practitioners with adaptable strategies and best practices, the toolkit supports the broader mission of HI-EURECA-PRO: to unlock heritage-based innovation for sustainable development, build stronger regional innovation ecosystems, and enhance the societal relevance of science in the context of the green and digital transition.
